Experience
I bring more than 20 years of experience in helping, teaching, mentoring, coaching, and supporting individuals across a variety of settings. My professional background includes serving as a Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist (2023–2024), where I worked with children, adolescents, and families on behavioral goals, emotional regulation, communication, and coping skills. I have also spent many years in educational roles, including Homeschool Educator (2018–present), Substitute Teacher (2006–2007), Middle School Teacher at an international school in Nigeria (2006), and Camp Counselor (2002–2005), supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of children and adolescents.

As part of my clinical training, I completed my Practicum at Robert Young Center in Spring 2025, where I gained experience providing counseling services in a community mental health setting. I then completed my Clinical Mental Health Counseling Internship at The Abbey Addiction Treatment Center from Fall 2025 through May 2026, providing therapy services and supporting individuals working through substance use, mental health concerns, trauma, and life challenges.

My background includes significant international and cross-cultural experience. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and TESOL from University of Northern Iowa, where I completed my student teaching at an international school in Thailand. I later taught at an international school in Nigeria. These experiences strengthened my ability to connect with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
In addition, I have held positions as a Campus Recruiter (2011–2013), Operations Assistant (2013–2014), Quality Assurance Specialist (2010–2011), and Individual Investor Specialist (2007–2010). These roles enhanced my skills in communication, problem-solving, training, conflict resolution, and supporting individuals through challenging situations.
I recently completed a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University and earned the Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP) credential. My clinical approach is informed by trauma-sensitive, evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while drawing from Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to meet each client's unique needs.
I am also a Christian and am able to integrate a Christian worldview and faith-based perspective into counseling when it is appropriate and desired by the client, respecting each individual’s values, beliefs, and preferences.
